Andre 3000, Gemini Son and one half of rap duo Outkast, has taken his talents to a new, exciting, and eccentric level with his new flute instrumental album, “New Blue Suns.” Energetically and musically, it…is…everything!
Let’s divine on the album’s title. We talk a lot about the rarity of blue moons. They come every once in a while, and the moon deals with feminine energy. New moons are for setting new intentions…so what happens when new and blue shift from the moon to the sun?
A new sun is a new dawn, a new beginning. The Sun also represents masculine energy…so this new blue sun is healing for and from the divine masculine energy. We all carry it, and we can all balance it more. Blue suns, like blue moons are considered rare because they don’t happen often. This album carries the uniqueness of a rare cosmic happening.
The color blue, in general, is the color of tranquility, intuition, and spiritual royalty. Blue invokes coolness, and this album is very calming.
It plays as a journey within. It takes you deep into spiritual places that you may not have realized that you needed to visit. It paints colors and gives the listener and instant tranquility. It is an aphrodisiac for the clairaudient. It curates a perfect setting for meditation, yoga, and spiritual practice. Spas should play this as house music. Instrumental music is essential for spiritual growth, because it stimulates you to hear your own thoughts as opposed to soaking in the lyrics of others. To me, this album fits in the ranks of Miles Davis’s Bitches Brew, and Coltrane’s A Love Supreme. The cover of the album reminds me of Roy Ayers. This album is a new level of Andre 3000’s spiritual and creative genius. It is a prototype of sound healing.
Why are even surprised? Andre 3000 was evolving in front of our faces as a rapper the whole time. He gave us glimpses of “New Blue Suns” in the eccentricities expressed many of his rap lyrics, especially in “The Love Below,” “Idlewild,” and his actor portrayal of Jimi Hendrix.
I had to pen this review to positively counteract social media posts of people clowning and trashing our brother Andre 3000 for not musically staying in the space of a rapper. .To musically evolve in the face of that is admirable, inspiring, and I hope other evolving souls are taking notes. This album is for who it is for…people on a higher vibration, like his. I give thanks for his being, musically in his truth.
