It even speaks to telepathic reaching with the lyric, “I love you in a place where there is no space or time…” It was written by Leon Russell in January of 1970, in either Capricorn or Aquarius season. I’m thinking Aquarius because it heartfelt apologies are a form of spiritual rebellion, especially in love. The song would go on to be covered by many artists, including Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Christina Aguilera, The Temptations, Donny Hathaway, and his daughter, Lalah Hathaway. It wasn’t released as a single until recorded by the legendary Donny Hathaway in 1971. It was released on second and self titled album on April 2, 1971. 6 vibing, Aries essence in timing with a Libra Man on the vocals….Hmmm. This rendition is by far the most popular.
The Temptations covered A Song For You, and the album released on January 16th, 1975. Dennis Edwards sang lead vocals….Aquarian man vocals…Capricorn season…. Hmmmm. The Temptations brought a deeply remorseful, yet mysterious twist to the tune.
