The i-Ching is a beautiful, practical, ancient Chinese oracle that brings gentle changes through elements in masculine and divine feminine principle through the combining of their trigrams into hexagrams. The hexagrams reveal message.
Hexagram 36 calls on a need to hide your light. As much as we love to let our lights shine bright, a time always comes to take it underground. Remember that there is a sun within the earth that pushes new roots through the soil. Li, She of fire and light, is the very light this hexagram encourages you to hide right now. She hides herself within the Kun, She of the earth, who opens herself to give birth at will.War is always a game of masks and mirrors, so put on your cloak and learn to love moving in the shadows as much as squandering in the light. It keeps you from forcing your spirituality on those not ready, or are so attached to the carnal world that your mere spiritual presence seems like an attack. Shapeshifting at will is a part of divine protection.
Then, lines 1 and 5 change…
The message of the changing line 1 foretells a period of solitude in your journey ahead. Right now, not too many people need to see it. Also, create more solitude in your thoughts by freeing your thoughts from feelings and beliefs that aren’t true to you.
Changing line 5 urges you to live your truth in secret for right now. Don’t worry about appearances, but know that you are much larger than you appear. Be protective of your newfound revelations as you would be a newborn child….the solitude is temporary as you make your way to people more like you. You are the light at the end of your tunnel.

We can become strained when we stick to a cookie-cutter, straight arrow way of doing things. Don’t be afraid to turn your energies into water, changing courses at will if you find one way of doing things is not working. The solitude the previous hexagram lead you through was cosmically designed to lead you to people of like mind. Gen, the male mountain spirit is the root of this hexagram, his sentinel mountain providing the perfect cover. Atop his principle is She, Kan, the dangerous, emotional waters of self reliance, vast and powerful enough to swallow a mountain whole. Although you may have become accustomed to being a lone wolf, be prepared to reach out for your spiritual allies, even if you attract them telepathically. This is where you make room for the Universe to surprise you! Ase!
