Libations: A Radio Show in Honor of Our Musical Ancestors
A libation is one of many ways in which we honor our ancestors. Traditionally, this is done by pouring water, milk, juice, elixirs, or liquor upon the earth, or a plant. The earth is rich with ancestral consciousness. Orisa Oya carries their voices in Her winds. Radio airwaves carry their melodies. They rest in memory…and in song.
9 is Her number, as is 2025 is a 9 year. Already it is filled with swift transformations, and this is a divine time to revamp and release this music segment. “Libations” features our favorite musical ancestors by the season of their sun sign. Light cosmology is included. They also have blogs that will feature on my blog for the ancestresses, Echoes of Legacy.
African American history, herstory, and legacy is rich in all areas of life, from invention, carpentry, art, sports, politics, education, and MUSIC! This legacy is saturated with all our ancestors left behind. We need far more than the shortest month of the year let it be known that our culture and heritage is second to none.
222.9 The Mothership Internet Radio is dedicated to preserving the history, herstory, and legacy of soul feeding music, and this segment adds to that dedication. It reaches from the top 40 hits, to the jewels off the b sides. Music is a powerful medium, and the music of our ancestors and living legends weave the fabric of our lives. General unrest is an issue with many variants that affects all walks of life, while music has always directly affected our vibrations. 222.9 The Mothership is dedicated to be a place people can always tune into to hear good music in the forms of sleep meditation, ancient drums, traditional and smooth jazz, classic soul music, throwback R&B, gospel, and classic hip-hop. Good music feeds the soul, and 222.9 The Mothership is a positive space anyone can access at anytime, anywhere, to channel positive energy in the midst of trying times. At 9am CST, Libations airs on every rising, paying homage to the cosmology of our ancestors, and the contributions they made to humanity during their incarnations on Earth!
