According to the Gregorian calendar (the one Rome added January and February to), we are at the year’s climatic point at month 6 of 12. This is merely month 3 of the year if you started the New Year when Onile( the Great Spirit of Mother Earth) did on March 21st…blooming in Spring Equinox. That’s when I pop my champagne cork!
The month of Okudu(June) was derived from Juno, the Roman Goddess of Heaven, marriage, the stars, childbirth, and family. Greek Mythology calls Juno by the name of Hera. Since no mythological deities predate the Orisa, both of these are revisions of the chief goddess Oduduwa. (in some representations, Oduduwa is a male energy) Perhaps this touches on why Yorubaland celebrates New Year’s on June 3…Eku Odun! This is why many say Okudu(June) is a month that raises the energies love, children, marriage, family time, and laughter.

Obatala( SOLSTICE, Sun energy)
Yemoja (Moon Ruled Cancer, Childbirth, Family)
June is also a month that houses a season change. It fuses out the blooming of Spring Equinox and turns up the heat, ushering in Summer Solstice. It houses the Mercury-ruled, mutable zodiac sign of Gemini and the Moon-ruled cardinal zodiac sign of Cancer. In the African way of the zodiac, Okudu (June) houses the season of The Ancestor. Speaking of ancestors, Okudu(June) was the birth month ancestors Tupac Shakur, Josephine Baker, Curtis Mayfield, Prince, Jackie Wilson, Eddie Willis (of the Funk Brothers), and Black Rob. Libations!
Pearls, moonstones, and alexandrites healing stones are at the forefront these month…so this is a good time to add them too your crystal arsenal and get to know them, if you haven’t already. If you do have them, pull them out to enhance your prayers, meditations, and manifestations this month.
