Red Wine is a favorite of Oya’s…and I am my mother’s child. 2 bottles of Blitch’s Brew Wine made their way into my world to enhance the celebration of my internet radio station’s 1 year on the airwaves, 222.9 The Mothership…by way of my longtime spiritual sister, Master Fundi Fe. Winemaking is one of her many talents. One bottle was blackberry flavored, and the other was an enchanting concoction of elderberry, cinnamon, and ginger.
The particular bottle of Elderberry Cinnamon Ginger Blitch’s Brew Wine was brewed and/or bottled on a divine date: 11.11.2021, the same day The Mothership aired the “Astrology and Us” Interview with Professor James Small. I received one of the 14 bottles brewed on this date. The aroma of this wine was strong to a point where upon opening the bottle, I was unsure of whether to drink it or dab it behind my ears as perfume. I took a moment to take in the fragrance of this wine before taking it onto my tongue. Its first taste made my tongue do a double take, the second sip a swirl around my mouth to experience all of the flavors. It had the crisp dryness of a merlot with the lightness of a cabernet. Its spice was slightly curved to the left of a malbec, landing in a category all its own. Knowing that the components of this dark red elixir were all healthy made it taste better that typical wines in my spirit. I even featured it on night 3 of my Orisa interview series, “Oya and the Exotic Mothers of Song,” and shared this wine experience with another bird in my nest.
This brew is not for square drinkers, or the too mild in tongue. This red wine is a heavenly experience for tongues which thirst for rare, delicious adventure.
